The SP Lohia Foundation is proud to partner with UK for UNHCR.
Right now, over 123 million people have been forced to flee their homes due to war, conflict and persecution in countries like Sudan, Ukraine, Bangladesh and Lebanon. That’s 1 in 67 people on earth – a tragic statistic that has doubled in the last decade. Many refugees remain displaced for years – even lifetimes – without access to education, jobs or a sense of home.
UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, as the only organisation with a global mandate to protect refugees, is on the ground in over 130 countries working to change this story.
With thanks to the support of business leaders and philanthropists, including the SP Lohia Foundation, we’re delivering a future where refugee cannot just survive, but thrive. Our work includes:
- Responding to emergencies: UNHCR mobilises in the first 72 hours of an emergency, in 2024 providing over 6 million people with essential relief items like blankets, sleeping mats, solar lamps.
- Building better futures: from healthcare to employment to education, we create environments where refugees can rebuild. In the last 5 years, our dedicated scholarship programme has increased the number of refugee youth in university education by seven-fold.
- Advocating for change: at the national, regional and global level we influence governments to adopt policies and services that protect displaced and stateless people.
